STAGE 13B

ELECTRICS

Scroll to the bottom of page first, and let the page load, (takes 4 or 5 seconds) then come to the top again

But just before we do any electrics....we need to put on the lower floor gyprock ceilings....go to Stage 14 before we do the electrics, to put on the lower ceilings......you can do them later, but i prefer to do the lower ceilings first.....and then the electrics

DOWNSTAIRS ELECTRICS

This STAGE is dedicated to photographic positioning of most of the electrical components of the job (see photos)........because we considerably changed things from the plans (as with many things, we often did......and i will let know, when we have).....and so, if you read the photos correctly, you will be able to see the positioning of most all the electrical components, as they will be clearly pointed out to you on the photos (most all them that is)....do a double check yourself, if you want to add more, ( like towel rail heaters, smoke detectors, etc) or subtract.....its your house!.... and of course iv'e made the diagrams as accurate as possible

However, i cannot remember which switch is for which light, so you'll need to figure that out for yourself, (mind you, its fairly simple to work out), and let your electrician know, so you can connect the right light to the right switch......and remember that there is a 2 or 3 way switch set-up on various lights which unfortunately you'll have to work out yourself............for instance, the same entry light with 2 switches will be ....one on the switch at the bottom of the stairs, and the other one on the column upstairs......both connected to the same light...............also the bedrooms

2 or 3 way switching (2 or 3 is the same depending where you live) will be quite prevalent when it comes to the pool and landscaping, so make sure your electrical conduits (pipes) are spacious enough (you do need to use considerably more wiring, but the benefites are worth it)

anyway, this video below will enlighten you a little regarding 2 (3) way switching

I also have put that diagramatic plan up here for you again ( Stage 13B is just the downstairs diagram)

ELECTRICS (downstairs)

but also here is the colour identification on the diagram..not neccesarily the same colours on the photos (dots and circles) of all the electrics (hopefully)...also talk to your 'lekky' in case i've missed something

Purple ring...........mozzi (ill explain to you later, but you need a hidden power point nearby...maybe in the ceiling)

Blue dots.............all the light switches you will have about the house (however, you may want more..(talk to your                                                             'lekky')....remember some 2 way lighting, and remember, all switches have dimmers

Red dots..............double power points.....dont bother with single power points....unless its external and waterproof...(and aircon)

Yellow dot.............all lights including 'sensor' spotlights, wall lights, wall sconce lights, directional, downlights, vanity lights, and                                      picture lights

Red ring................ceiling fans ....(first diagram)

Black ring..............bathroom wall extractor fans.

Brown dot..............internet

Green ring.............phone

Grey dot.................electric floor heating....you may consider hot water floor heating (but i didnt like the thought of a leak...ha!!...all                                   metal water carriers seem to oxidise over time and are subject to leaking...well, thats what i think anyway,                                           could be wrong, ha!

yellow ring..............3 in 1 heat lamp

Red ring..................Sensors (second diagram)

Green dot...............TV

Green dot. yellow border....Vacuum...(vacuum will need power at each port....hence the buried cable or alternative cable)

Purple dot................Security (may need power)

Light grey dot...........Floor heating

like i said before, you may want to do some extra things, like towel warmers, toilet seat warmers, smoke detectors, etc.....up to you!

My advice is to print out, and enlarge the wiring diagram (which you see below), and get your electrician to draw on the diagram how the lights and switches and so on, will hook up, via a wiring diagram, ...........then you can do all the apropriate wiring link ups using the correct wire......running through cavities,. drilling and running through flooring joists, wall studs etc and mounting wall boxs to your 'lekkys' satisfaction.....and dont forget to mark everything with a waterproof marker

print out several copies of this picture....do one at a time with your 'lecky'......ie. just wall fans etc.

downstairs

Another vid to look at......

Down below we have a number of photographs to give you an idea of layout.....this photo collection is not comprehensive, but hopefully the diagrams above are.....study them carefully, to make sure i have not missed anything, and that you are familiar with the strategy of electrics....it may seem daunting at the start, but you will become familiar with it very quick.....and with your 'lekky' to guide you ....your in safe hands

Of course nothing will be live ...the meter isnt even in yet...but of course, thats a job for your 'lekky' friend.. he will do the meter box hook-up after inspecting all your hard work.

You may notice that the colours on the photos may differ slightly to your diagrams.....so work off the diagrams, not photos
